This university meets a specific need. For me it was returning back to school after a 20+ year hiatus and not wanting to spend $60k to complete my degree. I found the coursework to be both engaging and rigorous. Nearly 100% of it is self study with minimal input given by professors. For me that was not a bad thing, as I prefer learning on my own. The times I need assistance from my professor, I almost always found them receptive to my inquiry and were able to assist is most matters of the course. Overall I am thrilled with the degree I received from The University of the People.

I graduated from the University of the People with a Master of Education degree in 2023 while working full-time as a teacher in China. UoPeople’s flexible and affordable online program allowed me to balance my job and studies seamlessly. The courses were well-structured, providing practical knowledge I could immediately apply in my classroom. The professors were supportive, and the global learning community enriched my experience by offering diverse perspectives on education. I highly recommend UoPeople to anyone seeking a flexible, affordable, and high-quality education, especially for those managing both work and study.

The university has been outsourced nearly entirely to India. The professors are volunteer making under 500$ to "teach" each 9 week course, and they become some bitter about how little they are rewarded and how unappreciated that they are - that they basically ignore plagiarism and cheating. The students all use AI. The textbooks are documents found free online, many outdated or low quality (answer keys with incorrect answers). It's a really discouraging place to learn. And, the school is not regionally accredited in the US.

As a student of the UoPeople for the past 3 years, the experience was incredible. If you took the study seriously, you'll find how helpful and useful it is in your career especially you're working on the same field as per your program.
Although it is an online-based and at your own pace program, don't mistakenly think it's going to be a walk in the park. Once you committed in a course for the term, you're expected to put on the work (reading/research and writing) week in week out for 8 weeks.
Ultimately, I found it very rewarding and a sense of satisfaction when finishing courses after courses. Last but not least, never had a bad experience with the course instructors so far, but if I were asked what need to be change about the UoPeople is the improvement of support and responses given by the program advisors.

UoPeople is the best university for all with quality education that fulfills the needs of all people whether poor or rich. The colour of the skin doesn't matter! Our President and his coworkers are doing all the best in providing best services for students, for instance, online libraries, funding, etc., and also that our instructors and advisors are always there for us whenever we need them. I would like to see more degrees in the future and more financial sponsors because sometimes we don't have enough funding for our studies. Why do I say this it's because the university will withdraw me if I am not paying for my modules since I did not receive a scholarship. This is stressing me! I believe that UoPeople is going far but it needs more support from government and organizations.

I returned to school at the tender age of 51, unsure that I could "do school" at my age and with my health. UoPeople proved that not only could I, I could excel. The courses are as rigorous as the average state college. Everything is online and you get out of it what you put into it. Having put my all into it, I got a great education. The diversity of the student body is eye-opening and I've met many people who are literally inspiring for their determination to overcome challenges that would make me curl up in fetal position and quit. Some 65% of the student body is non-US, over 25,000 are refugees from various wars, conflicts, and disasters (the student counts on Niche are laughably inaccurate. Real count: more like 140,000). My best friend is a refugee who's been on his own since he was 12. UoPeople changed the arc of his whole life--and it helped me change mine. UoPeople isn't perfect, and it's got a lot of petty annoyances, but it's transformational in all the right ways.

I got my Bachelor of Computer Science from the university. I chose the program for its flexibility and affordability. Without the possibility to control my schedule and study nights and weekends, getting this degree would not have been possible.
The courses are pretty standard, often borrowing from other universities' open learning, like Rice, MIT, and Yale. The lectures and textbooks are the same—Gilbert Strang for math and statistics, for example.
You have to be self-driven. You get out of it what you put in. You learn all the important knowledge you need in the industry, and you are ready to take on interviews at top companies.

"I've been pursuing a Computer Science degree at the University of the People since Term 2, and overall, my experience has been quite positive. The faculty is knowledgeable and supportive, which has significantly enhanced my learning. The curriculum is challenging and directly relevant to my career goals, providing me with skills that I find applicable in real-world scenarios.
The university also offers ample resources that facilitate learning, making it easier to stay focused on my studies. The availability of study materials, interactive platforms, and supportive tools creates a productive academic environmen
However, there are areas where the university could improve. The administrative processes, particularly enrollment and financial aid, can be slow, which may cause frustration. Additionally, while the curriculum is strong, some course content could be updated to better align with current industry trends, which is especially important in the ever-evolving field of computer science

My experience with University of the People (UoPeople) has been transformative. I've accessed high-quality education without financial constraints. The flexible platform allows me to learn at my own pace. I appreciate the sense of community, well-structured curriculum, and experienced instructors.
However, I'd like to see more course offerings, improved navigation, and additional support services. Increased recognition and accreditation would also be beneficial.
Overall, my time at UoPeople has been rewarding, and I've gained valuable knowledge and connections. With some improvements, UoPeople can become even more exceptional.
