XRP Community Figures Counter Claims That R3 Corda Is Using XRP (2024)

Crypto Eri, a prominent figure within the XRP community, in a recent tweet, countered claims that the R3 Corda Settler uses XRP or XRPL for settlements. The tweet came in response to growing speculations that The Swiss Central Bank plans to utilize XRP through Corda for its CBDC.

In the tweet, Eri clarified that the only time XRP was used on Corda was in 2018-2019, but as a proof of concept only. She continued that Corda is an open-source software that can utilize any digital assets. “Anyone can deploy any asset they wish. This does mean R3 is using XRP,” she said.

Furthermore, she stated that Corda can use XRP, although their primary settlement token is XDC. She continued by referencing a tweet analysis from popular crypto community figure Moonchaser, which cleared up the claims. Moonchaser said:

Let’s clear up this R3 Corder Settler using #XRP false and misinformed narrative once and for all. R3 is NOT using #XRP or the #XRPL for that matter. R3’s Corda uses the XDC Network, and $XDC is their primary settlement token.

According to Moonchaser, Ripple Labs and R3’s Corda had a partnership in 2018. However, that partnership fell short after litigation happened between the two companies. She added that while details of the dispute resolution weren’t made public, it probably explains why the two companies don’t mention each other.

Moonchaser said she has spoken “to those in the know” and can reassure the community that Corda does not use XRP nor the XRPL. In addition, she clarified that there is no activity on the XRP Ledger to suggest that R3’s Corda is using XRP, even though the data is not publicly accessible.

Backing up Moonchaser and Crypto Eri’s claims, crypto influencer WrathofKahneman added: “I believe the Corda Settler product that used XRP as a settlement example has even been deprecated as they develop a new Corda SDK.”
