This Limeade Margarita recipe is a simple twist on the classic margarita, using just 2 ingredients. It’s citrusy, sweet, and perfect for sipping on the patio this summer.
Who doesn’t love a margarita?! With fresh citrus flavor, smooth tequila, and a salty finish, what’s not to enjoy? This marg is ready in less than 5 minutes, so let’s get this party started.
Why you'll love this recipe
- Simple ingredients: Skip the sour mixes, this is the easiest margarita of all time. Of course, you can add to it and make it your own. But this recipe is minimal and delicious!
- Quick and easy to make: No juicing or squeezing required to make these margaritas! Add the limeade and tequila to a co*cktail shaker with ice, shake, serve, and enjoy.
- Great for any occasion: This refreshing drink is the perfect balance between sweet and tart. It's ideal for hot summer days, happy hour, and parties.
Ingredient notes
- Limeade: Use your favorite store-bought limeade such as Simply Limeade, Santa Cruz Organic Limeade, or Newman’s Own.
- Tequila: Blanco or silver tequila is my go to for this easy margarita recipe but use your favorite type. (My husband typically prefers reposado!) You don’t need to use top shelf but stay away from cheap tequila.
How to make a limeade margarita
For a salted rim, run a lime wedge around the top of a co*cktail glass. Dip into coarse salt then set aside.
Add ice cubes, limeade, and tequila to a co*cktail shaker and shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds. This will ensure the co*cktail is well-chilled and smooth.
Strain into a co*cktail glass filled with ice, garnish with a lime slice, and serve! Enjoy this limeade margarita on the rocks with homemade tortilla chips, cowboy caviar, mango habanero salsa, soft shell tacos, or chimichangas.
Variations
- Make it sweeter: Add ½ ounce of orange liqueur, like triple sec or grand marnier, for sweetness.
- Make it spicy: Muddle a couple slices of jalapeño in the co*cktail shaker before adding other ingredients. For less of a jalapeno kick, simply add the slices before shaking the rest of your ingredients.
- Make it faster: Instead of shaking the co*cktail, stir everything together in a co*cktail glass.
- Make a big batch: Combine ingredients in a pitcher without ice. If making pitcher margaritas for a party or large crowd, prepare some margarita glasses with salt rims and set out a bucket of ice. In the recipe card, hover over the serving size to adjust the number of drinks, then measure accordingly. For example, to make 6 limeade margaritas, mix 3 cups limeade with 1.5 cups tequila.
