Hā́idēs, Attic Greek: [háːi̯dεːs], later [háːdεːs]), in the ancient Greek religion and mythology, is the god of the dead and the king of the underworld, with which his name became synonymous. Hades was the eldest son of Cronus and Rhea, although this also made him the last son to be regurgitated by his father.

In ancient Greek mythology, Hades is the god of the underworld. Among other interpretations, the name Hades has been thought to mean the 'Unseen One. ' Hades is the first born son of the Titan Kronos and brother to the Olympian gods Zeus, Poseidon, Hera, Hestia, and Demeter.

In these adaptations of the Greek god Hades, renowned God of the Dead, he often seems to be up to mischief, concocting his latest evil plan and causing mayhem for all involved. Yet, in the Greek mythological canon, Hades hardly causes any trouble at all. In fact, he is one of the most peaceful and impartial gods.

After Cronus was overthrown by his sons, his kingdom was divided among them, and the underworld fell by lot to Hades. There he ruled with his queen, Persephone, over the infernal powers and over the dead in what was often called “the house of Hades,” or simply Hades.

Persephone doesn't exhibit the classic blind faith in Hades typical of Stockholm syndrome: when Hades cheats on her, she cruelly punishes his lover, turning her (Minthe) into a plant, hence the mint plant.

In Christian theology, Hades is seen as an intermediate state between Heaven and Hell in which the dead enter and will remain until the Last Judgement.

But there are different versions of the story, Some say that Hades was collecting the souls of the dead who were killed in battle when he was hit by a stray arrow from Heracles.

“Does Hades hate Zeus?” No, absolutely not. Hades loves and respects Zeus like a proper elder brother. In fact, he willingly chose the Underworld as his dominion, as sort of a way to keep a close watch on the Titans and ensure they never escaped.

Persephone/Kore (Περσεφόνη/ Κόρη) is a goddess, Demeter's daughter by Zeus, wife of Hades, and queen of the underworld. Her most important myth is that of her abduction by Hades, her father's brother.

An early view of Jesus' descent into this 'underworld' location in one interpretive camp was that he liberated the faithful that had previously experienced death. A later view shares that this place of descent portrays Christ's victory over the Kingdom of Satan, completed in death.

Like Zeus, Hades is usually represented as a vigorous bearded man. His symbols are the scepter and horn of plenty. He's also often depicted with the three-headed dog, Cerberus. Hades's strengths include his wealth of the earth, especially precious metals; persistence; and determinedness.

Hades was portrayed as passive and never portrayed negatively; his role was often maintaining relative balance. That said, he was also depicted as cold and stern, and he held all of his subjects equally accountable to his laws.

The abduction of Persephone was the only major bad deed the god has done and unlike others Persephone even forgave him. Another popular belief is that he is violent. No, he isn't violent unless necessary and doesn't get angry as fast as his siblings and family members do. He mostly keeps to himself and the underworld.
