Wendi and TotalEnergies Uganda: Revolutionizing Fuel Payments with Digital Wallets (2025)

Tired of fumbling for cash at the pump? Pearl Bank's Wendi digital wallet has teamed up with TotalEnergies Uganda to revolutionize how you pay for fuel and more! This partnership promises a smoother, more convenient experience for customers.

Wendi, formerly known as PostBank Uganda, is now integrated into all Total fuel stations. This means you can use your Wendi mobile wallet to pay for fuel, gas, car services, and even shop at Total station stores. The best part? Transactions start as low as shs500 and go up to a generous shs 5 million per transaction!

While your Wendi wallet can hold up to Ush. 20 million, there's no limit on the amount a merchant can hold. Talk about flexibility!

The rollout of this payment system is already underway and is expected to be completed by the end of November 2025.

Peter Ssenyange, Chief Financial Officer at Pearl Bank Uganda, emphasized Wendi's innovative approach to digital financial services. He highlighted how Wendi is designed to be accessible anytime, anywhere. He also stated, "Wendi is a solution provider, and its name, which can be translated as 'I am here', proves that the wallet is here to support our people in their day-to-day transactions. We are glad to join efforts with TotalEnergies M&S to enable make their payments fast, secure, and affordable.”

But here's where it gets interesting: Wendi users also enjoy a 10% annual interest rate on their savings. This is a significant incentive to promote a savings culture among Ugandans, ultimately improving their financial well-being.

How does it work? Paying with Wendi at Total stations is a breeze. Simply scan the merchant's QR code or enter the merchant code, enter your PIN, and confirm the transaction. Your account is debited, and the merchant's account is credited instantly.

New to Wendi? You can access it via USSD by dialing *229# or by downloading the Wendi Mobile Wallet App. To register, you'll need your national ID and will be prompted to enter your first and last name, National Identification Number (NIN), and follow the straightforward registration steps.

Joseph Wechuli, TotalEnergies’ Finance Manager, on behalf of the Managing Director, pointed out that the partnership aligns with sustainability goals and promotes innovative approaches for convenient service access. He added, “This partnership with Wendi highlights TotalEnergies’ commitment to innovation and customer convenience. By introducing digital payment options at our fuel stations, we are giving customers easier and more flexible ways to pay for fuel and other services. Collaborations such as this are important in improving how customers access and pay for essential services.”
