Why You Will Love this Drink

You wanna beer? No, wait, you want aclassic margarita with simple syrup? Ugh, too many choices. Let’s put them together and do a bit of a science experiment!

It only makes sense to pair the two together to create one tasty drink.

The margarita provides that sweet tart punch that you look for in a tasty co*cktail and the crisp Mexican beer lightens the drink up to create an incredibly refreshing ice cold beverage!

This is a fun drink to serve, too, because you shove the beer bottle into the margarita portion and serve the mug with half the beer still stuck in the bottle! As you lower the volume in the glass by drinking it, the beer will continue to pour out.

How to Make a BeerGarita

  1. First, make a quick batch of simple syrup. This is basically just sugar dissolved in water. I always keep some on hand for recipes like this Beer Margarita or even non-alcoholic drinks likefresh squeezed lemonade.
  2. Grab yourself areally big mug. It needs to be large enough to hold the margarita ingredients plus the beer (but not the entire beer because some of it will be trapped in the bottle.Make sure your mug is big enough so that when you add the margarita with the ice, the volume of the liquid only goes up half way.
  3. Add some ice cubes to the mug. Then you pour in all the margarita ingredients. Do I put them in a shaker with ice first? Nah, not necessary. You can if you really want to, but there’s enough room in the mug to give it a good stir.
  4. Finally, the really cool part. You crack open an ice cold beer and stick it in the margarita. As it gets close to the top you start worrying that its going to spill over, but it miraculously stops when the liquid hits the top of the glass. Super cool science + booze = good times.

Recipe Tips

  • Freeze your mug for at least an hour prior to serving. This will keep your drink nice and frosty cold.
  • Use large ice cubes! Instead of the ice cubes my refrigerator makes, when I make co*cktails I use extra large ice cubes that I freeze in these silicon ice cube molds. Why? The larger the cube, the slower it melts.
  • Want to make it for a crowd? Just be sure you have enough mugs. You can easily make up a large pitcher of margarita and have a bunch of ice cold beers ready to go!

Save Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces silver tequila
  • 2 ounces lime juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 ounce Simple Syrup
  • 1 ounce orange liqueur I used Grand Marnier
  • 12 ounces Mexican beer Make sure it's cold, I used Corona

Instructions

  • Make simple syrup by heating equal amounts of granulated sugar and water (I used 1/4 cup of each) in a small pot over low heat. As soon as the sugar has dissolved, remove from heat. Store in air tight container in the refrigerator. Make as little or as much as you want. It will last at least a few weeks.

  • Using a very large mug, add ice cubes and all the margarita ingredients: tequila, lime juice, simple syrup, and orange liqueur.

  • Pour the beer into the glass and submerge the top of the beer in the liquid. It won’t overflow if you do it right.
