It’s no secret that Ilove a goodmargarita.
Lime.
On the rocks.
With salt.
No exceptions.
Thankyouverymuch.
They’re tart, they’re just a little sweet, and they’re beyond refreshing. . . what’s not to love?
The other day, I was whipping up a homemade margarita for Trevor and I and I realized that I didn’t have a really good, classic, easy margarita recipe here on SMTY.
Say. Whaaaa?!
I’ve got 5 Ingredient Margs – 4 Ways.Strawberry Jalapeno Margarita. A Mango Habanero Margarita. A Devil’s Margarita. A Jalapeno Margarita w/ Jalapeno Infused Tequila.. . .
[obviously I see the pattern that I’m obsessed with sweet and spicy margaritas]
but there was no classic margarita to be found.
Well, today, all things have changed for the better.
How do you make a homemade margarita?
- Tequila
- Lime/lemon/orange juice
- Simple syrup/agave
Mix above together over ice and BOOM. Homemade margarita.
Oh, and PSST – I almost forgot, Trevor and I went LIVE on Facebook and made a fun little video that you can see below! We’re hoping to make this a regular thing, sojust head to Show Me the Yummy on Facebook and we’ll see you there!
Funnily enough, this recipe came to be, because I had run out of lime juice, but wanted to make a margarita.
I mean, I had a little lime juice, but not enough to make a pitcher and I neeeeeeeded to make a pitcher.
What to do? What to do?
How do you make a pitcher of margaritas?
Well, I did have lemon and orange juice.
I combined the lime juice with the lemon and orange, added tequila, and a teeny bit of simple syrup and the BEST classic, easy margarita recipe was born.
For a pitcher, you’ll need:
- 16 oz tequila
- 4 oz lime juice
- 4 oz lemon juice
- 4 oz orange juice
- 4-8 oz simple syrup or agave
That being said, the best part about this recipe is that it’s totally customizable!
Like your margaritas a little sweeter? Add more simple syrup.
Don’t have or want to make simple syrup? Use agave!
How do you make a top shelf margarita?
You could even get fancy and use a nicer tequila and add a splash of Grand Marnier. Boom! Top shelf margaritas for all!
Whatever you do, just promise me you’ll use lime, lemon, AND orange juice.
I’m telling you, it’s life changing.
Make enough for a crowd or scale it down and just serve one!
How do you make a single serving margarita?
For a single margarita, you’ll need:
- 2 oz tequila
- 1 1/2 oz juice (I just squeezed a lemon, a lime, and an orange into a container, mixed it up and measured out 1 1/2 oz)
- 1/2 – 1 oz simple syrup or agave
Sooooo easy.
Also. Serve these up in these mason jars with a salted rim, because mason jars are still cool and I think they’re adorable!
So. I know it’s only Wednesday, but makethis Easy Margarita Recipe for Thirsty Thursday, play some music, sit outside and just. . .
r.e.l.a.x. 🙂

When I followed the recipe for a single serving, the end result barely filled my margarita glass half way! I just tweaked it to where it topped off the glass. Otherwise, easy recipe and makes a good margarita!

Definitely made for a short glass, not a margarita glass! Glad you enjoyed!

What brands and where do you find fresh lemon and lime in bulk? Need to make this for 50!
Reply
Jennifer @ Show Me the Yummy
Hi Kim! I use Realime 100% Lime Juice and Realemon 100% Lemon Juice – I can find them in 32 oz bottles at my local grocery store. For the orange juice, I’d probably just use Simply Orange Juice!

Have you tried using the triple sec along with the other ingredients you use
Reply
Jennifer @ Show Me the Yummy
I haven’t, but you could replace the orange juice with triple sec. Or try one of my other flavored margaritas: https://showmetheyummy.com/five-ingredient-margaritas-recipe/

Excellent! Easy to make. I did it 2 ways. Pre made juices for second pitcher and fresh squeezed for the first pitcher. Take the time. Squeeze it!!

I really don’t like pre-made margarita mixes, so I’ve been on the hunt for an all-natural homemade version. I think I found it with this. Followed the recipe exactly (used about 6oz simple syrup as 4oz was not quite sweet enough – taste before adding more as citrus varies in sweetness) and loved the outcome. Tossed a few thin slices of jalapeno in the pitcher to give it a little kick and I’m on my 2nd glass. Thank you for this easy and delicious recipe.

I really really enjoyed this! As others have mentioned, the combo of the lemon, lime & orange was absolutely refreshing….I’m not (wasn’t) a big drinker but I made a couple glasses “2 nights in row 👀”.I love summer & I’m sure as the weather warms up this will become a regular for me. Coincidentally I already have a lemon, lime & orange tree growing, I’m already thinking a lil margarita station will be in order🎉🌴☀️

Another recipe – easy peezee – make a pitcher of frozen lemonade (regular or pink your choice), add two or three shots of Rose’s lime juice and however much tequila you can handle. Serve your favorite way. Done deal.

I’d make a few pitchers of these margaritas! You can buy fresh juices in bulk, so you don’t have to freshly squeeze all the juice yourself! 🙂

I am usually a frozen margarita gal…..but I think I can make an exception for this easy margarita. Frozen margaritas take a whole lot more work and sometimes I just don’t want to go through all that effort! This looks perfect for a hot summer afternoon!
