IN THIS POST
I remember the first time I had a vodka and pineapple co*cktail. I was out with some friends and someone ordered a round for the table I took one sip and was hooked. The sweetness of the pineapple juice combined with the smooth vodka was perfect.
Now, I’ve become something of a connoisseur of vodka and pineapple co*cktails. I’ve tried them all – from the classic recipe with just vodka and juice to ones with added lime or mint. I love them all and you will too!
How to Make a Pineapple Vodka co*cktail
Here are the basic ingredients you’ll need to make this easy pineapple co*cktail.
Ingredients
The full recipe is in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.
Here are the simple ingredients you’ll need to make this drink.
Pineapple Juice – Since this juice is naturally sweet, use one without any added sugar. See our recommendations below.
Vodka – Use good quality vodka when making this drink. Since there are only two ingredients, the quality does matter. You can use plain vodka or pineapple vodka.
Lime Juice and Grenadine – These are both optional, but you can add 1/2 ounce lime juice or a splash of grenadine to the co*cktail.
Ice Cubes
Directions
Simply combine all ingredients into a co*cktail shaker and shake with ice for 20 seconds.
Strain the drink in a tall glass over ice cubes.
Garnish with a slice of pineapple or lime.
Sugar the Rim
On a small plate add 1/8 cup granulated sugar.
Wipe the rim of the glass with a lemon or lime wedge.
Dip the glass straight down into the sugar.
Add a Layer of Grenadine
For an added touch of sweetness, float a layer of grenadine over the top of the drink. To do this, pour the grenadine slowly over the back of a spoon into the drink. The grenadine will sink to the bottom and create a beautiful ombre color.
Vodka Pineapple Recipe Variations
There are a few ways you can change up this pineapple vodka co*cktail recipe.
- If you want it to be sweeter, add simple syrup or two.
- Or if you want it to be a little tarter, add some lime juice.
- And if you’re looking for a little bit of a kick, try using ginger vodka.
- Add a splash of fresh orange juice to make a pineapple screwdriver.
- Use coconut vodka for more of a tropical fruit drink.
Pineapple Vodka
If you want to use pineapple vodka for this recipe you can! Pineapple vodka is a type of flavored vodka that is made by infusing pineapples into vodka. It can be found in most liquor stores and will give the drink an even stronger pineapple flavor.
Vanilla vodka or ginger vodka would also be a delicious pairing with pineapple juice.
Garnishes for Pineapple Vodka
A garnish adds charm to a drink and makes it festive. Here are ideas to garnish this drink:
- Wedge of Pineapple
- Lime Wheel
- Maraschino Cherries
- Pineapple Leaf
- Pineapple Flower
Pineapple Juice
Pineapple juice is a tropical juice made from pineapples that has a sweet and slightly acidic distinct flavor. This juice is a popular ingredient in co*cktails and is often used to make pineapple vodka.
It’s also a common drink on its own and is a good source of Vitamin C. It’s made by juicing fresh pineapple.
For this recipe, we recommend using organic, naturally sweetened pineapple juice. Here are some suggestions:
- R.W. Knudsen
- Trader Joe’s Pineapple Juice
- Dole Pineapple Juice
- Any Pineapple Juice with No Sugar Added
These are pineapple juices that are either organic or unsweetened. They will be the best to use in this recipe because they are not as processed and have no added sugar.
How to Juice a Pineapple
If you don’t have pineapple juice on hand, or if you want to use fresh pineapple, here’s how to juice a pineapple. You will need a juicer or a blender and a strainer.
Cut the pineapple in half length-wise and then cut each half into thirds. Next, cut off the crown (top) of the pineapple. Cut off the skin and then cut the pineapple into small pieces that will fit into your juicer or blender.
Juice the pineapple using a juicer or blend it in a blender and then strain it if you want smooth pineapple juice.
Vodka
Vodka is a clear, distilled liquor made from grain or potatoes. It originates from Russia and has become one of the most popular alcoholic beverages in the world. Use good quality, smooth vodka to make the best drink.
Personally, we love to use local, small-batch vodkas if you can. The best place to find these are at local liquor stores. However, there are some great vodkas out there that are affordable too:
- Titos– A good, affordable choice for Vodka.
- Reyka Vodka –Reyka is a premium vodka that is hand-crafted in Iceland. It’s very good quality for a great price. We recommend this vodka often. It was also awarded Gold at the International Spirits Challenge.
- Frankly Vodka– Organic vodka that uses no refined sugars, no gluten, no GMO’s, no synthetic pesticides, and no artificial colors.
- Ocean Vodka– Another great organic vodka, sustainably produced in Hawaii.
- King St. Vodka– A female lead vodka brand is made with alkaline water and gluten-free corn, it’s distilled seven times for purity.
- Vapid Vodka– This is a California vodka with a clean, subtle sweetness.
- Grey Goose– Its spicy notes work well in a variety of co*cktails, making it a perfect addition to any bar.
